Season six of HBO’s Game of Thrones is set to air later this month. Looking back, it’s kind of surprising (but totally awesome) that a show about dragons, medieval politics and the coolest dwarf this side of Middle-Earth is one of the biggest things on TV. With Game of Thrones making fantasy cool for mainstream viewers, it got us thinking about other great fantasy novels that deserve a chance to shine on the small screen....
This year’s refresh of the 12-inch MacBook helped Apple achieve a 30% increase in Mac shipments in Q2, according to TrendForce data, but its shipments for the first half of the year were still down 23.4% on last year’s numbers … Apple now has a 7.9% share of the laptop market, sitting in fifth place behind Lenovo, HP, Dell and Asus. Apple remains ahead of Acer, Samsung and Toshiba. In the age of franchise-building filmmaking, major studios have been dashing out to create movies from established IP, in hopes of setting up the next big franchise. So, it is commonplace in cinemas and streaming platforms to find potential franchise starters. This is where the term “sequel bait” is applied for those movies that are blatantly designed or subtly hinted to establish future sequels and followups. So, it can be an awkward nonstarter if such movies fall flat on first impression and yet (perfectly) teased a followup that never happened....
