After premiering on Lifetime and then being added to Netflix’s vast streaming library, dramatic series You has become a total hit for TV fans. This series is based on a novel series by the same name and the first season, which premiered in fall of 2018, was based on the first book in the series while the second series was loosely adapted from the second novel, Hidden Bodies. Both seasons of the series follow a man named Joe and his obsessive infatuation with someone that he meets while at work.
While the first season was set in New York City, the second season shows Joe moving from the Big Apple to Los Angeles to start over with his life. The series follows two women named Jen and Judy who meet and bond with one another after meeting in a support group for grieving people who lost their spouses. The two of them are really different, but those differences bring them together. When a dark secret Judy is keeping is revealed, everything changes.
Big Little Lies
Originally marketed as a miniseries, Big Little Lies received a second season in 2019 and had fans of this dramatic HBO show drawn right back in to the drama.
Big Little Lies follows a group of moms who live in Monterey, California and who become friends because their children all attend the same school. Although everyone in this town appears to have it all and be completely perfect and put together, this show reveals that there are some dark secrets hidden under the surface.
Gossip Girl
Even though You was a really intense and darkly dramatic series, it can be a lot of fun to watch something that has slightly more lighthearted drama. If you’re looking for something that’s still dramatic but not quite as heavy as You could be at times, check out Gossip Girl.

This series follows Marie, a teenager who reports an assault that she experienced, only to be found guilty of lying about the entire thing. But, when more people come forward with eerily similar stories of the same things happening to them, the officials begin wondering whether or not she was really lying.
How To Get Away With Murder
How to Get Away With Murder is a dramatic series that began airing in 2014. The series is produced by Shonda Rhimes, the producer behind a ton of other addictive TV shows like Grey’s Anatomy.
The series follows Annalise Keating, a talented and brilliant law professor who teaches a defense law class called “How to Get Away With Murder.” She selects a group of her most promising and talented students from her class to assist herself and her coworkers at her law firm. There, Annalise and her students become tangled up in a crime beyond their wildest dreams.
Russian Doll
Russian Doll is a series that premiered on Netflix in 2019 and stars Natasha Lyonne as Nadia. In this comedic series, Nadia is supposed to be on her way to a party in the heart of New York City. Unfortunately, at the end of each night, she finds herself dying, only to wake up and start the night over the next day. In order to escape this loop, Nadia has to figure out exactly what’s going on.
This idea is one that has been in countless other movies, most recently in comedic horror film Happy Death Day. But that doesn’t mean that it ever gets any less entertaining. And watching this Orange Is the New Black star hilariously try to figure out the mystery of this unusual event makes this show so worth checking out.
Black Mirror
If you’re just not ready to commit to a full TV series after finishing this latest season of You, then you might be interested in settling in and watching an anthology instead. Anthologies are a lot of fun because the episodes aren’t connected by an overarching plot, meaning that you can just check out episodes that interest you and watch them in any order.
Black Mirror is among the most popular recent anthology series and it’s not hard to see why this series is so big.
